NO WAY BACK SUBMITTED FOR CONSIDERATION AT THE 42nd IDA DOCUMENTARY AWARDS

Following its international recognition at the 2026 Anton Awards, the ATHLIX Studios feature documentary continues its journey with a submission to one of the documentary field’s established awards programs.

NO WAY BACK is taking another step in its documentary journey.

Following its recognition as International Documentary of the Year at the 2026 Anton Awards in the Dominican Republic, ATHLIX Studios has officially submitted the feature documentary for consideration at the 42nd IDA Documentary Awards, presented by the International Documentary Association.

The submission represents another important step for a film that began NO WAY BACK SUBMITTED FOR CONSIDERATION AT THE 42ND IDA DOCUMENTARY AWARDS as an independent family production and has continued to grow beyond its original scope.

A STORY TOLD ACROSS TWO LANGUAGES

NO WAY BACK follows the journey of Venezuelan baseball player Alain Gómez-Gudiño, from his childhood in Caracas through migration, sacrifice and adaptation to the opportunities that would eventually shape his life in the United States.

Told through intimate interviews with Alain, his family, coaches and mentors, the documentary explores not only athletic achievement, but also the people and decisions that made that achievement possible.

Much of the story is told directly by its Venezuelan participants in their native Spanish, making language an authentic part of the film’s identity.

The submission does not represent a nomination or official selection. It places the film into consideration as the IDA Documentary Awards evaluation process moves forward.

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY

For ATHLIX Studios, entering NO WAY BACK for consideration represents more than pursuing another recognition.

It is part of a larger effort to bring an independently produced story—created across Venezuela and the United States—to audiences and documentary communities beyond the places where it began.

The film was created by the four-member family team behind ATHLIX Studios, combining original cinematography, firsthand testimony, archival material, narration and visual reconstruction to preserve experiences spanning different countries, years and stages of Alain’s life.

Its journey continues as ATHLIX develops new documentary projects and expands its commitment to telling human stories that exist beyond competition.

Some of the most important stories in sports are not found in the final score. They are found in everything it took to get there.
